Good News on Protecting Voting Rights: Let’s Back Promote the Vote 2022 Citizens Petition to save Democracy in Michigan
A powerhouse coalition of nonpartisan voting-rights groups has launched a ballot initiative to change the Michigan Constitution to significantly expand voting opportunities—for the benefit of all voters—regardless of party preference. The ballot proposal, Promote the Vote 2022, expands upon the popular 2018 constitutional amendment sponsored as Prop 3 by the first Promote the Vote coalition. The new coalition consists of Promote the Vote, the Michigan League of Women Voters, Voters Not Politicians, All Voting is Local and the ACLU of Michigan. Promote the Vote 2022 would allow nine days of early voting, voters to sign an affidavit attesting to their identification, fund mailing of absentee ballots and require more drop boxes. The goal of the ballot initiative is to continue building a voting system that works for everyone in Michigan by allowing nine days of early, in-person voting, along with other measures. Creating a true early-voting system means that busy people like people with two jobs or people who have kids at home and taking care of children have more options for how and when to vote.
To get the proposal on the November ballot in 2022, more than 425,000 valid signatures on petitions are needed by July 11th. So, everyone who loves Democracy needs to help with the petitions. To find out how to help, contact your local chapter of the League of Women Voters or Voters Not Politicians at votersnotpoliticians.com or call at 517-2251812 or in the Upper Peninsula call 989-545-9847.
All Voting is Local is an organization who fights to dismantle barriers to the ballot box well before upcoming elections so that every voter can cast a ballot that counts. Here is what they are doing to protect the vote in Michigan:
The League of Women Voters Michigan is a non-partisan political organization dedicated to making democracy work through voter education, issue advocacy, and citizen participation. LWVMI has developed a chart about the 39 voting bills in Michigan and states the league's position on each bill:

Contact the Michigan senator (https://senate.michigan.gov/) or Congressperson
(https://house.mi.gov/) who represents your area. Let them know how you feel about the proposed bills that aim to suppress the vote in Michigan.
You can also contact your mayor and your local clerk who oversees the election process for your precinct. Share your concerns about voter suppression and ask them how they plan to protect the rights of citizens.
